i'm trying to decide on one higher-end-performing traditional flipper to go with my "good" front flipper and thumb stud opener. I want it to have a second opening option, thumb hole preferred. it needs to be either a liner lock, or a plain looking frame lock (i'm a lefty and some elaborate show side with a blank lock side makes me sad). also i greatly prefer holes in the show side for a flippable clip, but it's the last and least stringent of my criteria. Price will obviously play a role, but pretend it doesn't for now.

i've owned an ace biblio, liner, two methods, lefty clip...yay, but didn't quite do it for me.
koenig arius for example fails only the clip test, which annoys me, but i'm still considering it.
FFKW archbishop maybe? these are along the lines i'm thinking.
so throw em out if they come to mind, thanks

Try a ZT 0450, it's a popular knife, it's not too large, affordable (especially compared to an Arius), plain Ti on both sides, you can move the clip. Although it depends on what blade size you were aiming for. Kizer has a lot of reversible plain Ti Flippers as well. Or you could look into Olamic, the flip great and do largely matching sides, tons of options and I very highly doubt they wouldn't be able to add the clip on the "wrong" side for you. O OlamicCutlery , could weigh in themselves on lefty options I suppose.

thanks. i had a pretty bad time with the 0452, but would consider the right zt, don't think they have any multi-opening knives, but may be wrong on that. Kizers are cool, my LH gemini made me a fan of their work, i don't think i'd add another kizer tho. Olamic could be an interesting way to go. swish and wayfarer 247 are framelocks with thumb holes, and wayfarer classic liner lock maybe available thumbhole? and ya i could probably check with them on a clip. thanks for the suggestions!

Oh, and you could take a look at Hogue Knives, I think button lock flippers could work pretty good. And yeah, the 0452 isn't ideal. I consider myself fairly ambidextrous so I can tell when a knife works easy of less so using the left hand (when the knife is more designed for a righty).

Based on your mention of lefty clip, I'm assuming you are a fellow southpaw. Probably the best flipper I have that's lefty friendly for the price is my Ferrum Forge Gent. There's a run now with carbon fiber or wood handles instead of the "boring" G10. Another good set of flippers are the new WE flippers for around $150. Thin, slicey stock in S35VN or M390. The Hogue X1 and X5 are also pretty nice, ground decently thin and flip well, along with button locks. The new ZT 0609 is also supposed to be good, but I haven't handled one.

I missed the lefty part, I'd maybe go for the Benchmade arcane. Axis lock so ambidextrous

We make full lefty versions of our liner lock models. That means the lock, pocket clip, pivot, and even logo on the blade are reversed.

HOT DAMN!!!
I was not aware of this! My mind has just been blown.
Is there an additional fee for lefty?
Either way I see a Wayfarer Compact in my future.

I would suggest exactly that to the OP too.

thanks for the replies. i will definitely look down the olamic avenue. a reversed liner lock would be interesting. always found righties easy enough i never bothered, but certainly intrigued. anyone else looking at them, in addition they'll even hand make you a lefty frame lock busker with a few minor modifications. good to work with! dkb, i've got two gents from the first run, i love them, that little lock is no problem for a lefty. other than the LH gemini i have, they're the friendliest on lefties i own. never really looked into push button openers, i may at some point, appreciate those suggestions too!

dkb, i only mention this cuz you might be thinkin on it, but the 0609 was brutal as a lefty. i saw that little lock bar and thought it might be a nice way for a lefty to pick up a ZT. i could barely shove the lockbar past the blade, and never came close to getting the blade to fall past the ball. stunning knife, looked nice on both sides, zt ambi clip, but ya, not good. as bad as my 0452 and i kind of expected that to be rough.

WE does have some nice budget liner locks. i had the 703e for a while. flipped way above it's price point. easy on a lefty. d2 and g10 was just kinda blah. would still be in my lineup if i had a lot of knives, but more looking for the one flipper so i can get rid of a few more like the WE's.

Hello fellow lefty.. How high end are you trying to go? Production knives-wise, you can try to track down a Kizer Gemini Laconico LEFTY model, excellent knife. Just found one myself on BF, extremely pleased with it. BladeHQ said they are planning on reordering it but who knows when that will be.. WE Knives is coming out with a knife called the Chimera that they said would also be released in a LEFTY model! If you don't mind axis lock, benchmade 300 is a flipper, arcane is an assisted flipper. CRKT twitch II is a reasonably priced small assisted opener flipper with backlock, lefty friendly. Another reasonably priced lefty friendly flipper would be the Buck Marksman, has a interesting lock mechanism from G&G Hawk like a strap lock, and has a hole in the blade.. Good luck with the hunt! Sorry ahead of time if these suggestions are too low-end for you :D

hey james. hahah i went on IG to find that chimera and saw your LH hassling. nice job, i do that all the time haha. i dunno if i believe them, but maybe! I've got the laconico gemini. It's very nice. It's one i'll probably always keep as a novelty and because i appreciate them making it!

Zt 0900. Only one deployment method, but that's all you need. Seriously.

Benchmade axis 300. Great knife. Multiple deployment methods. Flipper, thumb stud, axis lock, pinch, gravity/flick.

I just ordered a Protech Cambria. Huge Protech fan here (own 4) so thought I'd try it out after watching some youtube vids. Looks nice.
I also own a ZT 0450. Great flipper!
