I was thinking of liquidating some stuff to free up funds for a FSH. I had an SE for a short period of time and I got to handle a standard FSH at Blade. Sold the SE, because I felt it was too heavy, but loved the FSH. Can someone comment on how the HH compares? Which one it "feels" more like?

Thanks,

GregB

right in between the two in heft and feel. The SE is basically a HOFSH and about 0.32 thick

My HHFSH feels more blade heavy than my HOGFSH-SE. Sabre grind vs. flat grind is the cause, I suppose. The HHFSH has a definite "chopper" feel. Much more so than some of the .22" & .25" flat grinds.

That said, I LOVE MY HHFSH!

PM sent... (No! It's not an offer to sell.) ;)

REGRET!!!

I turned the FSH SE back into the trough.

I need counseling.

Most likely more blade heavy because of the saber grind in relation to the thickness of the stock at the hande. My FSHSE is definately one heavy beast. I can just imagine how stout a MOASH would be.

Ya - but the're not your type - you dont seem to like the fat ones as you keep putting all yours on diets...............

Yes, you are correct. I like them lean and trim :) I am ok with Fat ones also...they just stay home most of the time. The thin ones are the ones I bring out most of the time.

OK I admit that a little variety is a good thing - and it must be said that Ban has wipped some of the slightly over weight cuties into some mighty fine figures..... :)

HH's are the way to go.

Not too heavy, not too light...... just right!!!!!

I feel like the HOGFSH has a little nicer (neutral) balance, but I also agree that the Heavy Heart does have a little more frontal heft that makes it feel a little more "choppier".

There is only a 2.4 ounce difference between the two. I think the HOG tang/ricasso could be the culprit;)

I have used an HH and it feels very balanced. Surprisingly, my Uncle MoFo out chopped it in my opinion. Have a HOFSH and a LMOASH that are up next. Also just landed a standard FSH that will get a few wacks as well. Once I get a chance at hacking away with them, I'll respond back!

The HHFSH is the knife for me that has the closest 'feel' to the SHSHII - aka - 'The Precious'

I believe it is because of the thickness -

HHFSH - .270 and standard scales
SHSHII - .260 and standard diagonal scales

I know it's not much, but the .270 feels better than the standard FSH .250 with the standard scales - just enough to make it secure in 'my hand'...

So, the HHFSH-standard and the SHSHII-diagonal are my two 'keepers' - the best of each version, in my opinion.

Get a Heavy Heart - try it - you'll like it!
:D

Why? Why, Jason?? That thing is a modern classic!! And there were so few ...

You'll only pry mine out of my cold, dead hand!!!!

It's only a slight regret. As far as choppers go, I prefer the 10" length of the Mistresses. And I just go out and beat my MOASH when any pangs of regret surface. :D

I finally scored the FSH SE that I foolishly missed at Blade. But that fatty is likely to remain a safe queen. I think I need to pick up a user FSH, before the prices get even higher.
