Does anyone know if the typical standard FSH are flat ground? I just got one that is convex ground. Is this normal or is it defective :foot:? Who do I send it to for proper disposal????

It's a partial convex main grind (probably about 2/3s up from the edge).

I thought that the HHFSH were 2/3 sabergrind and the FSH were full flat? This one here appears to be almost full convex at about 7/8 of the way up to the spine.

Not to start a flame war, but in my experience:

FSH: Saber and / or Convex.
Heavy Heart FSH: Saber
HOGFSH: Flat

Thanks!

John

Saber
Saber to Convex (depending on who you ask and the blade sampled)

Someone has to step up and take the initiative here, so it might as well be me.

I'll PM you my address, and you can begin to heal after sending it my way.

I believe all the standard FSHs were Partially convexed on the main grind.

I thought it was a trick question?!? :D

Rat-30,
I assume the 3rd knife down is a FSH? As Greg45 had mentioned.... I think the FSH are actually full convexed but people mistakenly call it flat ground.

Guyon,
You are such a giver

I want that 3rd one down - she has some miles - but has that experienced look :)

Top to bottom:

SHSHII - Flat
ZTSHe - Saber

FSH - This is an earlier knife in the series by the logo, had a nice convex grind past the initial 3/4-inch top saber grind

HOGFSH - Flat
HHFSH - Saber
HOGFSHLE(sterile) - Flat

Look, you can nominate me for a Nobel later. Just send the knife!!! :D

I'll give more. You know I'm close I'll drive down and and get it and save you the shipping. I'll bring some Scotch and you can start healing up as soon as you get home.

According to the Busse website at the time they were for sale, the first, and so far only PRODUCTION Busse with a full convex primary grind was the HOGSJT/HOGSJTLE series.

My CGFSH came with full convex grind. Very noticable with a beautiful black crinkle finish. I'll take a pic with a straight edge this week-end.

The LE's were flat ground.

And the HH's were sabre ground.

That is correct. I took a straight edge to mine and it is definately convexed. I know a flat grind when I see one ;)

I forgot that I had one of these... :o Mine seems to be like yours.

It seems to be almost a full height grind... The coating makes it hard to see.
