Hey guys got a question for you.

Which would you rather own and why?
A standard katana, Tibetan short sword, Tibetan long sword or a tarwa?

Basically I'm looking for the ultimate zombie killer :P

cheers

- Rhys

i had a hard time choosing as well... so i bought 3, a katana, tibetan long sword & tarwar :D

on a serious note... to dispatch zombies i would use the tarwar
thats just my personal preference... it just seems to have the right balance and be nimble enough to take on hordes and hordes of zombies

I like my Tarwar.
Seems to me though that swords are even more personal than most knives. If you get the Katana remember what some of the sword guys have said; it is not a true 'katana'; you should consider it a cross between a katana and a sabre. It is stout. Seems a little quicker than the Tarwar.

You got any poisenious snakes in your backyard?

munk

Don't have a backyard at the moment but as a kid we had many poisonous snakes come through, lived in Western Australian desert. Brothers been bitten by one as well, was hilarious he came into Church with a snake attached to his hand. Everyone freaked except mum who walked up to him and said "damnit what have you done now" and took him to the hospital. Pastor freaked (from the City)

Oooo just had a thought what about a HI seax?

add another city boy freakin at the thought. DAMN! the thing just held on?!?!? no snake experience here but that sounds pretty extreme.

Last night i dreamt of a straight katana. no lie. after swingin it around i looked in my hand and somehow i was holding a khuk instead of a sword.

hehe nice dream.
Yeah was a dugite not overly poisonous, but still poisonous. Thing just didn't want to let go untill it was pulled off.

Yes, Australia not only has the top ten poisenous snakes on earth, but a gaggle of lesser biters who are still to be watched.

I guess if I were faced with the Brown Snake, I'd want a shotgun instead of a Katana.

Yeah we have lots of nasty critters around the place, but almost all of them are quite happy to leave you alone if you leave them alone. I'd be much more afraid of your mountain lions and those huge bears you have. My little house cat is savage enough, I also heard that mountain lions have a nasty temper.

This right to my interest in HI. These swords are sooo special. Unfortunately, my normal internet has gone to demons just in time for the holidays, thus my participation in this thread is gonna be a bit spotty...
"Zombies":rolleyes: :D
I really like the Tarwar. It is serious. Very Wu Shu meets himalayan machete. A heavy weapon. I love the Uddha sword. Just cuz. It'd be the first one I'd pick up in the midddle of the night go bump. Can't wait for the katana: chiruwa, plain monkey pod scales:cool:   .
No it isn't authentic Japanese, It is itself. If my experience with other HI swords is any indication of what to be expected, it'll be an excellent sword, well beyond the bang for buck rationale.
Back atcha when I can

Well, I opted for an Everest Katana myself. Sure, it's not a nihonto, but I'm sure it's just as functional... that is, should one ever need to use such a thing (let's hope not!). It is, as everyone says, a Nepali interpretation of the katana, which in turn is a japanese interpretation of an earlier Chinese blade. Authenticity, SCHMAUTHETICITY, I say!

Tarwar runs a good second in my books!

a nice 28in. blade 10in. halde katana with normal sized tip not to fancy
hamon. just somthing simple to kill zombies with

P.S. whats your zombie plan!?

Theres a child care centre near me that my little sister works in, it has three 12 foot fences, 2 freezers, 2 fridges and a storage room filled with food. Has adsl and 30 computers. Also has bars on windows and large strong doors. Few showers and washing machines. If zombies attack i'm going there :)

Not to mention the kids...sure to keep the zombies away.

xinel, if you order the tibetan short sword, be sure to mention whether or not you want it in the "Tibenja" (TM) configuration or not. The "Tibenja" (TM) has an extra long handle.

Thanks for the tip Danny, but I bought one on the 25/11 :P
Looking through the swords section now, g/f gave me some money for graduating uni :)
