So I've learned I could answer a lot of my own questions if I had this book, so I wouldn't have to keep bothering you all with my ignorance. So I looked on Ebay quick to see if I could pick one up, and sure enough, now I have another question. :o

I see the latest 5th edition, a 4th, a 3rd etc. I'm hoping the latest edition will include the same information as the earlier editions with some newer stuff added, right? Or is there some value in having all of them? Some of the sellers are asking a pretty penny for some of the older ones. Are they just collectible like knives, or do they really have ten times the data in them?

Thanks again,
Kelly

In Levine's Guide, (the best of the guides imho) the edition you want is the 4th if you can find one. It is not "current", but it the most current that Bernard Levine had involvement with (and that he endorses).

Most (or at least many) of us have that edition and use it regularly. The price data is not that important compared to the info contained within.

I've not used The Standard Knife Collector's Guide.

If this is the Ritche/Stewart guide go ahead and get the latest edition.

I found one 4th Edition on Amazon.com. They want $500 for it. Are they crazy? Do they really sell for that? I mean --to anybody but me, that is.

That is ridiculous. It's a great book but much as I like it, it's not worth that kind of $.

Well, unless you have Gus' (Bastid's) money to spend.:D

I got Levines 5th at bass pro shop for around 30 bucks. Is there more info in the 4th?
