Jus wondering what people enjoy about buying/collecting Busses. Buying more "normal" knives like the ASH-1, NMSFNO, etc, or the "different" styles of the AK-47, Sus Scrofa, etc.
I've only been watching/buying for about two years now, but it seems to me that the 'core' sales have been the Badger Attack and ASH-1, more normal knives. The two different knives that have been sold since I started paying attention were the scotch dispencer and the sus scrofa, neither of which has seemed to be extremely popular. But, on the exchange, the rare and costly knives are usually the different ones, such as the AK, Nick, Ruck, Paul's Hatchet and a smattering of others. Is this due to the rarity, or do you think they grow on people over time?

I thinks it's more due to the fact that when you tell someone they can't have something (no longer made) ,,,,,, the urge to go out an scrounge one up is intense.Btw,,,,, I don't own a BA Tac,,,,, however the rarer BA3 LE gets me drooling.

I usually go for the 'normal' knives as I like all mine to be users so a different knife tends to be one I think I could possible use. My ratio of normal to different is probably around 6 to 1. For this i'm counting a War Boar and Shiva Rex as different and a Tali-Whacker as normal.

Yeh...good luck with the ABALE, brother. I know where you can get one if you don't mind it having been modded. Otherwise, you'll be searching for that your entire life...like a grail search SHOULD be.

"Normal" knives for me. All of the busses are useful, but some in their own way - like War Boar for example. I have nothing against new designs, but I prefer my knives simple and with clean lines - like SFNOs, BATACs, Game Wardens. Strange thing is I prefer combat grade Busses rather than custom shop ones... Combat grades look like pure 100% solid workers, and thats their beauty to me.

I hear ya TheGatMan ,,,,,,,,,, I have no real grail blades that I'm searching for,,,, I buy on the spur of the moment. I Kinda like the black paper SJ LE too ,,,,,, another one you won't find,,,,,, unless you want to pay like 10 times it's original offered price :D

I love all knives!!

So long as they are branded Swamp Rat or Busse :D

Any INFI is fair game.

Sometimes I am chasing the variants.

Other times, a black/black mag standard knife is the thing I'm looking to buy.

It's all good!!!

I think rarity and usefulness combines to make a lot of knives popular. But some knives become less desirable, I think, when parallel models are released (such as how the HACK superseded the Three Finger in terms of size category).

The older models are just as rare as before (a saber ground SFNO, for example) but get a temporary drop in secondary market popularity when something like it comes out (the SFNOLE, to continue the previous example).

However I doubt some models will ever drop in secondary market popularity, such as the AK. The original AK in A2 steel certainly didn't lose any fans or collector value when the AK47 was issued, and the Ruck didn't change the value of the AKs either. The same can be said for the SHBM and SHSH.

Probably too much thought put into that, but I am a business person and things like economics of small markets are very fascinating to me.

As RoyalM said for me. Mostly normal, but that's mainly due to lack of funds. That means I buy ones I can use. As much as I would love an AK, I've no real use for it. Other than frightening the neighbours :D

Mostly normal, when I first started collecting Busse's I had a hard time to figure out the availability and supply of the knives so I decided to buy whatever was offered as they were made or through the company store. For example when the FSH's were available, I picked up a CG and an LE, then a thicker version the HHFSH from the company store, same thing with the FBM's and ASH1's. I skipped on the SFNO's, the first time and this time with the NM treatment. Scotch Dispenser and War Boar were not for me.

I can afford "normal" most times and when I see a variant I have to have I try to get it. I lOVE Variant AD's! But I dont have very many because of cost. I really like the clip point versions.

I really like some of the not so normal knives like NARK, just because they are cool. Or the Tally Wacker. Stuff like the War Boar are not for me either and i just couldnt get into the SS. However the Pork Belly skinner in my eyes is a great looking knife that makes sense for a hunter and butcherer of farm animals like myself.

Normal. I like simple unextravagant designs. I think the classic Busse's are the most appealing, the straight handles, the original satin jack, the BA3's, ect.

I don't care much for the variants. Things with spikes and sawbacks and curved blades belong in the movies IMO. I'll stick to the more traditional blades.
