I have posted on this in the Bernard Levine Forum.

I have an "old" 3 5/8" slip-joint "scout" knife marked Made in U.S.A. on the main blade ricasso and etched "Standard Troop(er") on that blade.

The jigged bone handles have a shield with the words "Standard Scout" (both words use a single, large "S") above crossed signal flags.

The punch is marked "Spiral" [larger script] above "PUNCH" [smaller all caps].

It has been suggested that this is a Camillus product.

Can anyone here add any information on this knife?

It is certainly a cut above the official Boy Scout knives, with decorative steel liners.

This post brings up a good point; There just is not a good, solid collector's reference book for Camillus knives. Too bad, such a great American company that has produced fine products for so long.

I imagine someone in Levine's forum has been able to answer the question. But yep, I think Camillus is the only company to offer the spiral punch. And Camillus did fancy mill the liners on quite a few knives. I think there are people there in the Camillus factory who recall seeing the machine there.

A good reference book... or even a something compiling all of the past Camillus catalogs, might be something that would encourage the collecting of Cam knives. And might lead to the purchase of new knives.

I would hate to see another good American knife company go the way of Schrade.

A couple of members have now posted over at Bernard's that this is probably a Camillus product.
