Is the only difference between the two the blade steel? I always carry a folder so the need for the better blade isn't there for me, or is the cx better in other areas as well?

I own a Leatherman Skeletool and The Cx Skeletool the standard model has serrated blade which is more difficult to sharpen but it is less expensive then the CX Model but on the other hand the CX model has a plain edge blade so it is easier to sharpen and a little more expensive. So if cost is an issue I would go with the standard model.

I really like my standard so far, picked it up last week and I've used it every day since.

The CX model looks tricker than the regular version, if that matters.

If you're going to beat it up get the regular one, why pay more.

If you work in an office environment, the CX will fit in better, look less "maintenance-man-ee."
