Anybody know what size and where to order standoffs for a standard size commander and cqc-15? I tried asking EKI for them, but they said they are only for new production knives. Thanks!

Are you trying to replace the G10 backspacer on a production Emerson with standoffs? If so, it won't work. The holes in the G10 are not in the same place on both scales. The standoffs need to be screwed in on both sides in the same position.

Amici,
I just picked up a commander, mini commander, and a Horseman ALL with standoffs. The commander I picked up on ebay from a seller from Texas. The Horseman, Blade HQ which I wasn't expecting to arrive with standoffs. The mini commander, from GP Knives which had it listed with such.. Hope this helps..

Cheers,
Serge

Yea, these were done as a limited production run by Emerson with standoffs. However, the liners for these knives are different from the liners one the regular production versions (screw placement - see tokerblue's post above). The length of the body screws would need to be different as well to keep them from hitting each other when screwed into the standoffs and to allow them to be screwed down flush with the scales.

well dang... the 15 I just got came with standoffs and I love it. May just sell my '02 commander and buy a new one with them

Why are the standoffs preferred over the spacer? What are the advantages of the standoffs?
- I own a 2010 Combat Karambit and recently owned a 2012 Combat Karambit with standoffs. The standoffs made it easier to assemble and disassemble the knife since it was a lot easier to line everything up. The other benefit is cleaning. It's a lot easier to get into the nooks and crannies when the backspacer isn't blocking a portion of the handle.

I called BladeHQ the other day and the sales person pulled a mini commander (stonewashed) off the shelve and it had the stand offs. I ordered the last one.
