This is a knife I just finished for a customer and is the most unusual knife I have ever made.
OAL 5 1/4". blade 2 3/8".
This is flat ground from 1/4" ATS34 with a bright polish.
The customer will be using this as his every day carry knife and I wonder just what he intends to use it for. Looks like it would be tough to peel an apple.
I silver brazed a bolt onto the tang and ran it all the way through the butt cap by threading it into the brass. Not very cosmetic, but it should be tough. As long as I was screwing the handle on I cross cut and book matched some small pieces of coco bola for an unual looking handle.

Anyone else out there with strange requests from thier customers?

Hah! You know, I kinda like that. Theres something about a beefy little knife that is very appealing. I have some sections of cutoff 1/4" damascus that might work for something like that.....nice job given the strange setup!

Yeah, I kind of like this stubby little knife myself. Make sure you let me see that you turn out from your short pieces. I always end up with some interesting knives from the last cut of bar stock.
The customer who ordered this is an engineer and gave me scale drawings with license to put whatever handle I wanted on it. He is a large guy with hands like country hams so I never would have designed a knife like this for him.

It's kind of a cool little knife. I would have chosen nickel silver over brass, but that's just personal preference.

1/4"thick and 2 3/8" long- looks as close to a sharpened prybar as we'll ever see. Looks like it will take a pounding and come back for more!

I really like the stacked wood handle idea. I haven't seen anything like that lately. Nice job!
