At work I use a utility knife all the time, and had to reflect back on what a handy tool it's been. Cheap, sharp as s**t, Quick to use, and a ready supply of new blades. Everything I've seen posted about these has been so negative I thought I would post this.

I'm not sure which posts you've been reading, but I always have high praise for the venerable Stanley 99, as do a lot of other forumites (sometimes grudgingly). It is so tempting to use your latest whiz bang folder for some rough jobs, when the 99 is really the better choice. I have made that recommendation here several times.

More than 15 years later, I am still using the Stanley I was "issued" at a factory job when I was 16. I do not use any of my knives to cut cardboard, carpet, linoleum, etc.

The right tool for the job. That's why they call it a UTILITY knife.

It was a posting over on the Tactical forum, Mentioning that the Stanley was the choice for street toughs over in the UK.
