A few years ago I helped my bro in law demo 2 large rooms in his 80 year old house. The walls were heavy plaster backed by that slatted board and I rememberd thinking at the time how nice it'd be if I had something that could cut through the board to make a starter hole for prying apart.

ya they're handy. Or you could buy a drywall hammer or a cheap beater hatchet. Just watch for those wires and plumming.
