Did you guys hear Stargate SG1 is getting cancelled? This made me so mad when I heard it. I hope the executives at SCI-FI change their freaken minds. They must be on crack since it’s a good TV show.

Well, it is a bit long in the tooth, so to speak.

It has spin-offs, even.

Now when Millenium was cancelled, that PO'ed me big time. Not to mention Enterprise, Babylon, LEXX, Farscape, Andromeda, ....

Stargate Schmargate - if you want an example of a show that shouldn't have been cancelled then it would be "Tru Calling"

:D

That sucks, I just started watching it a few years ago.

Although I gotta admit it's not as good without Richard Dean Anderson.

What he said.

IMO it was getting overly campy lately, like any moment I'd expect kevin sorbo to come bursting through a door or something.

Richard Dean Anderson was the show....we all know that.

He was the reason to watch the show. He was the point of view of the person at home turing on the Tv to watch.

He truly was a great actor in a great position that really worked.
But after year after year of getting up to do that same Tv show I guess we can all understand why Richard had felt that he had finished with that part of his life.

Im glad that the show went on after Richard left.
It was fun to allow the other actors their own chance to be at the center of the story lines, and not just in the shadow of their Lead actor.

But, lets face it....Richard was the real reason the show was fun to watch...
Sure it was still a bit of fun, but it just was not 'as' much fun to watch.

TV shows come and go...Lets hope that the new sciFi shows are up to that challenge to step up and be just as good as STARGATE was in it's day...

TV shows come and go, and some spin off new franchises until the end of time.

For example, Star Trek would have been better served by being a bit less prolific, on TV and in the movies and in books and ...

Let them die, and make room for new shows, before they get boring.

The 'idea" behind ST Enterprise was good enough, a show set before the Original show's time. But the way the show was writen, acted, cast, and dressed was a huge error.

StarGate was a fine show in it's time. It was very funny and well acted and was not afraid to poke fun of itself.
Yes it's sad to see it go. Sad to see old friends have to turn up on different TV shows now,,,the loss of the whole "good friends" feeling of StarGate and all...

But thats life, we all have aged too...

You can console yourself that in October my beloved Battlestar Galactica is coming back :)

Though I loved the original film, I must admit I never quite "got into" Stargate. Dunno why, I'm a big sci-fi fan. Watched a few eps, but it just didn't grab me.

I thought the addition of the old Farscape chums last season added a bit of spice (Claudia Black is very funny, something she was never allowed to do on Farscape), but still...

Just learned that too. It's a shame. I'll admit the show as getting a little stale by but bringing Ben Browder and Beau Bridges in help liven things up considerably. Claudia Black is alway welcome.

Did any one else notice that Morena Baccarin (Inara in Firefly) was in Friday's episode?

Sci Fi needs to pick up Firefly.

Yeah!!! I just happened to rent the series once (I never saw it on cable) and it rocked! It was a real tragedy to see it go away.

Me?

Battlestar Galactica (original series): I've got it on dvd. Fun but waaaaaay campy in the 21st century. It doesn't hold up as well as some.

Star Trek (TOS) Fun. Lots of alien boobies. Held up better than BS but still pretty funny at times.

Star Trek (TNG) I still like these a lot.

Star Trek (DS9) My favorite of them all.

Star Trek (VOY) Bored me to tears.

Star Trek: Enterprise. They tried. I watched them all. It somehow just never seem to really sync.

SG1 - I liked the movie. Hated the series. We aired it.

Andromeda - Made me snooze.

ehh, i'm still bitter that they cancelled farscape and then pilfered a good chunk of it's unemployed cast for stargate. in my mind farscape was better show. like a sexier, more violent star trek.
