Starkey Titanium Kershaw.

Can't shed any light on your question Robbie, just wanted to comment and say its a fine looking piece of cutlery - looks a little sabenza like.

Yes, thanks, I am still amazed at the appearance of this knife, wish I knew the reasons it was discontinued........

Robbie Roberson ;)

It was discontinued at least maybe 6 years ago. It was a pretty decent knife, I think it was too expensive "for the time" and probably didn't sell that well.

I have 2 of the G10 handled models and they're really nice. I was told some years ago that the Titanium models were not as well put together as the G10 models, but I don't know firsthand if this is true or not

I had one. It was my first "real" knife. Reminds me of my small Sebbie that I have now. Really smooth action. The liner never failed. Overall a really nice piece.

It is similar in construction, although not in blade shape, to their hawksbill, the Talon. They are heavy duty but also heavy knives, and Kershaw changed direction completely when their Ken Onion designs came on line. Really well made, but the liner lock is not the strongest.

Lets everybody post at once! :D

fudo, I have the titanium Talon and it is put together very well. It only went into the drawer when I got my first Sebenza.

I was told by a few dealers that it was indeed a bit expensive to make at that time where the demand for a production Ti handle folder just wasn' t there. The action is buttery smooth due to its nylon (?) washers. And the grooved hump at the pivot end of blade acts as a "bic lighter" opener!

Thanks a bunch guys, I was just curious if anyone knew any specifics about the knife. Artsig1, did you see the link at the beginning ? Really nice pics of this folder.

I have the G10-ATS34 version, but with the longer blade. Great knife overall, good ergonomics, great blade shape. I stopped using it because stuff always got caught up in the little hollow in the thumb stud, and it had a tendency to get a little loose a little quicker than I wanted (easy to tighten though). Also, I've converted to the House of Flat Grind. But definitely a very good quality knife.

Thanks, Esav.
I have the 1416 XXL Starkey Ridge as well and I carry that one because it fits my hand better.

Here are a few more pics for anyone interested. I recently sold this one. Good size knife. Heavier than you would expect for a knife it's size. I guess "dense" would be a good description. Nice blade shape.

I agree that this was the top end of Kershaw at the time and when the Onion designs started flowing they dropped their older designs in favor the his. At one time Kershaw had several Ti knives on the market.

Thanks for the pics guys. Robbie I'm on another computer that blocks access to ebay, but I'll check it out later. I definately remember these now. At the time they came out I was really into customs and ended up not getting one. I remember there was a hawkbill version and came real close to getting that one for the hawk.

Robbie, I think you will like this knife when you get it. I think that kershaw dropped it for a number of reasons. First off, Ken Onion assisted openers became their big money makers. Secondly, Kershaw tends to use knives made with less expensive steels like AUS 6 & AUS 8. They probably wanted to keep their costs down, Finally this is a fairly thick and heavy knife for it's size. If you have Sebenza or Delica, to name two, you will see it is a bit thicker and heavier. That said, it is a very well made knife that locks up well and oepns very easily and is super smooth. Take care!
