In an order of several Spydies that I recently made, I received my Starmate. When I opened the box, I was glad that it looked even better in the flesh than in pictures on the net.
The edge was hair poppingly sharp as I have come to learn ALL Spydies are. It was a little on the light side for my liking...I would prefer a full length SS liner but thats just me. The blade opened with an even more solid THWOCK than my Military that came in the same order. But I was really disappointed that the blade had a lot of free play when locked out. With really minimal force, I measured the tip of the blade moving 3mm laterally. This is not usual right? I only ask cos I have seen a few posts here on BF about the Starmate's bladeplay.
Anyway I have emailed the vendor and customer support at Spyderco and I am waiting a reply. I'm sure that they will not disappoint cos I have heard that their support is excellent. But I was wondering if anyone who has experienced this would want to share a few thoughts.
Thanks and sorry for the long a** post!
