Starmate Impressions

Thanks to Martin here on the forums I just got a plain edge Starmate. My impressions--I like the size of the handle better than the Military. Blade is shaped very well but I don't understand why it the spine isn't more rounded by the hole. It has an almost bump there that could (and probably will be after a trip to my grinder) be more rounded as to not catch on one's pocket. It is sharp, very sharp, I love CPM440V, that is the main reason why I bought this. Will have to think it over some, it might be my father-in-laws Christmas present in which case I won't touch the back of the blade. It is a little stiff to open, of course it is new and that is nothing that a minute with a torx won't fix. Great ergo fit in the hand. Although the texture of the G-10 scales is fine, they feel very grippy. They could have left the round emblem off the scales as in time it will scratch up and probably fall off and that would make the knife look cheap. Overall, a very nice piece for the money. My father-in-law uses a knife very hard...for everything...he is a farmer and hunter. Will be interesting to see how it holds up to his abuse...er use.

Chief - Thanx for the comments. We'll look at the hump again.

As far as the medallion, Bob "T" would have had my head if it were done any other way. He was quite adament.
