I did some trading recently and I received 2 Bob Terzoula Starmates. One Large and one smaller. The blades are ATS-34 on both and the lengths are 3" and 3 3/4".

I looked around on the net and found info on the larger one, but nothing on the small one.

Can anyone enlighten me?

thanks

Maybe they are not actually Starmates?
Was there a pre Starmate Bob Terzoula model?

Rdnzl - The first collaboration that Spyderco did was with Bob "T". The larger one is probably the C15 and the smaller one ws the C10. These were replaced by the Bob "T" Starmate.

Senior moments aside, the C19 is a great little knife, esp with al scales.

Thanks Sal, I did an extensive search and that's what I found. These 2 have what looks like G-10 scales..

What are the differences between these and the Starmate? Slight handle shape and blade steel?

Thanks

The Starmate is considerably larger than the C15 and has whackydo CPM440V.

Same designer, same G10 scales, both have linerlocks.

Steel is different. Ats-34 for C15 & C19, CPM-440V for Starmate. Pattern, blade shape, blade grind and handle shape are quite different. Starmate is larger than C15.

If you don't like them, maybe we could trade...
I might be interested in the smaller one, would you swap it for a Benchmade Stryker jr for example?

Probably also that the Starmate looks a lot like a model which isn't made by Spyderco and thus lacks the hole in the blade. Or?

Thanks for your help.
I went to my local knife shop and handled a Starmate today. I think I like the C15 better. It just "feels" better in my hand.
The C19 is actually a good fit also for a smaller knife, and I have fairly large hands.

Guys,

Any ideas where I can find Bob T's C15 and C19? I would like to add them to my Spydie family..

I have all three Terzuola Spydercos. I used to have the C15 and C19 as my primary out of town/in town carry knives until they were replaced by my BF Native and StarMate. They are very, very nice knives, although I prefer the CPM440V steel blades and the G-10 scales of my current choices.

So do I, but mine has got aluminium handles, so it's not all that suitable for year round use (but on the other hand that makes it better in the pocket), so now it's sort of "retired". But I did use it a lot during seven years or so, just not during the cold part of the year. Possibly only my Executive has a better track record (the other contenders are EKA Swede 60 which I don't remember how old they are, a German hunting knife and Master Hunter -- none of which are still in use). The Starmate only got one year.
