Startac vs Regular Umnumzaan?

Is there any difference? as far as I can see it's only the pattern on the handle… does it provide extra traction or whatever?

I've got both, the Startac gives a little more grip traction. IMO, the Startac is more eye pleasing, that's all. Functions are the same.

I personally don't like the startac. I love the look of it, but in hand the grooves cut into your fingers when gripping tightly. The grooves on the starbenza are better and I wish the startac had them. I had one of the first startacs made and sold it because if this......If I was buying ONE, I would go with the regular umnumzaan.

I don't care for how the StarTac grooves seem to want to "guide" my grip... IOW, when adjusting the grip those angles of the lines fight me and seem to get in the way. Hard to explain... but I much prefer the regular Umnum.

Hope this helps, from Anne from CRK.
-When we assemble Umnumzaans we do use Loctite. It is 222MS, low strength that creates enough bond to prevent the pivot from coming undone but one that can be broken quite easily when you wish to disassemble the knife. Do not use medium or high strength Loctite – it will cause trouble later!

Only a tiny droplet of Loctite is needed on the threads of the male screw – this is important as it adds to the strength of the pivot assembly. If no Loctite is used, the pivot will loosen continually.

The Umnumzaan take down kit contains two delrin tools, two allen wrenches, a small container of Loctite and instructions on how to dis- and re-assemble. The directions detail where to place the Loctite and the lubricant.

Purchase of the kit is a small investment that will keep your knife in great condition!
