A couple of years ago (before I discovered the Forums) I picked up a "Chinese broad sword". It turned out it was a flat piece of "spring steel". Do distal taper, no edge bevel, as heavy as BOTH of my 25" sirupatis put together. So I realized I don't have a good machete. My Mom's house has a ton of ivy and I could use a good machete. So my eyes alighted on this "sword" and my Dremel. Hmmm. I taped up the blade, sketched out rough blade shape and attacked it with the cut-off wheel. I haven't yet freed the blade-to-be, something to do with sparks in the bedroom making the Mrs. nervous. Women
Hey, she married me. I'm going to make the handle out of a piece of the maple tree or maybe one of the avaccado trees. I don't have a bench grinder but if I'm patient I may just get a useable machete out of it. We shall see if fortune favors the foolish.
