Hi

I'm new to this forum my name is Kev and I've been collecting knives for a few years now. I don't get the same buzz anymore from collecting knives and want to start collecting Tomahawks. Ive sold my knives except my Bayley S4 as I use that one :0) so have got some money to buy a nice one.
I've always been interested in knives used by the military and special forces so would love to own a Tomahawk that is actively used by the military or special forces. I've done some digging and Winkler and RMJ keeps popping up.
What are people's opinions on these, also are they used by special forces.
Any advice or alternate makers appreciated.
Ps I've order the book Tomahawks traditional to tactical so will hopefully know more soon.

Regards Kev

Cold Steel Trench Hawk is a good way to start; economical, drop forged 1055 carbon steel and differentially hardened on edge and tip of spike.

I've got a RMJ Kestrel coming and will test it. Will share the results much later.
Winkler's Combat Axe II has always got me mellow so it's down the list as well.

I still believe you can't beat these 2 but i might be wrong. A lot of LaGana fans here.

For historical hawks Rick Palms, John Cohea and Todd Bitler's are very high at my list.I believe unless i struck a lottery it would only be a wishful thinking.
Somehow i would like to have a Magua Hawk from North River Custom knives.

Coal Creek Forge, Kentucky, Pipeman, Church&Son, Storm Crow, BenR.T (Is Edwood7 making his own version of axe already?) are some of the loudest names a peeper would name and praise.

As a new kid on the block, I would also point you toward another new kid on the block that's sure to make a splash in the hawk community -- the Swamprat Rattlehawk (or at least I think that's it's official name; it might just be called the War Hawk). It's going to be made of a single-piece of SR-77, which is a specially heat treated type of jack hammer bit steel. But it looks like it might be heavy -- maybe too heavy for a weapon. Just throwing it out there. Welcome!

Hi guys thanks for the warm welcome and suggestions. The more I read on tomahawks the bigger a topic it seems.
Think I'm going to get an RMJ not keen on Cold Steel from my own experiences, would live a Winkler but nit sure I can justify that much if an RMJ will do the job.
