I would like to do my own heat treating. My question which oven is the best for the money, I know I'll need a roll of foil but what else. How do you staighten a bent blade?

rdf.i hope this will help you some .me and my brother made a forge out of a pipe about 10 in with rock wool insulation . we use O-1 and we put the blade in the pipe and use two propane torches one on either side of the blade .also used decarberation paste on the blade insted of foil which works good.with
O-1 you simply heat the blade to it becomes non-magnetic brigth cherry red.touch it to a magnet and if it does not grab quenchit in ligth oil at150 degrese.then put it in an oven at 425 for 1 hour remove let cool and repeat this step 2 more times .this will temper the blade and you should be quite happy i hope this works for you.david lovins

Evenheat from Koval.
You'll also need gloves, glasses and long tongs.
Straighten a bent blade while its hot. (Be careful.) After 10 minutes, forget it. It would have to be heated again to do it. Let me know if you need anymore information.
