Hey everyone,
Got into the hobby of some better quality production knives. I think I started the hobby pretty strong with some great quality knives.
My thoughts
Benchmade Infidel - I love it. Being a lefty, it made a big difference that the switch is ambi, so I can engage either hand. The blade shoots out strong and the lockup was better than the microtechs I played with. Also live the dagger style. I'm not too into serrations anymore. Maybe half on one side only. I haven't needed serrations, so for EDC I'm going to skip serrations. The sharpness is razor sharp. I cut some police patches that we were destroying and this thing cut the thick police patch like it was a piece of paper. AMAZING. Absolutely a keeper. I plan on getting the Infidel Mini now. I do use this at work near salt water in FL, so I have to make sure it's maintained well. I use eezox on my blades and guns. Oh and actutation force is very little. even a baby can open this thing. But it's long so I don't see it accidently firing in my pocket. This is my work carry
Protech Malibu - WOW. This manual flipper is an adult's fidget toy. the action is so smooth and lockup is great. This one was hard to find. Sold out everywhere, and all dealers were out. I found it at the local gun show and paid a little premium for it ($220) But I'm happy. There was a black one with a mother of pearl button, but I prefer this blue. I love the color. I wish it was the reversed tanto, but I'm ok with this blade shape. Beggars can't be choosers and this is a hard blade to find. Cuts nice and imo is not as sharp as the BM infidel. It is a better quality super steel though so probably will be easier to maintain. I just love opening and closing this thing. lol...
Protech Sprint - I wanted a small EDC since I prefer smaller knives that will get the job done on most tasks I need it for day to day, and I really wanted an auto from protech because it opens with such violence lol. There was a blue one wioth coated blade, but I liked this black one with the cf inlay and their stonewash finish on the blades look so good. I couldn't pass it up so I got this too. I'll probably carry this mostly.
Microtech UTX-70 - Cool little tanto. Got this just because. Blade is sharp, and lockup is good. easy to actuate but not as easy as the infidel. Has the glass breaker and small like the sprint. Awesome small action packed knife
Looking forward to more into future. I do like the Protech Godson, and I want few autos from Benchmade as well. Then I think that'll complete my collection *for now*
