yo.
I am about to build up my collection of knifes. I have about fifteen allsorts. I've been a knife "liker" for years but after signing up for this Forum I have become a genuine knife nut. All this information from the you guys has blown my mind. It's like Moses parting the sea to information (excuse my blaspheme) I have spent about 3-6 hours every day for the past weeks soking in all this knife knowledge. I especially love all this sharpening info to be found on these pages, I had been looking and found the occasional drugstore "how to", nothing like the super quality "how to's" I have found on this Forum, the links to expert opinions have been confetti to me.

I live in Iceland and the best brand sold here in the entire country is Gerber, need I say more (found a SOG the other day though, only one they had, a Trident folder, bought it of course)

I need a safe online store, any suggestions?

I'm about to order some knives but wanna start small, with DMT sharpening tools and a Grohman Original design hunting knife.
I like the traditional and original knives that don't let one down when needed and are actually good to work with.
But damn those tactical things look good.

Then I want a Benchmade wih axis lock, not decided which one!(leaning towards Griptillian non serrated and non tanto)
An Emerson CQC-7
A Sebenza large, (that one will wait a while though and preferably I want to buy it from a store, not online)
A MOD CQD Mark I preferably an auto.
A Fallkniven S1
A Swamp Rat
An Extrema Ratio FULCRUM II T folder
A spyderco Delica 4 Stainless Steel
This is what I am going to get the next months (subject to change)

My latest shoppings were a size 8 Opinel, a very good woodworking blade, A Victorynox Swiss tool X and a Gerber LMF infantry.

And this is just the beginning!

How does one order the autos? My father in law is high ranking police. Can anyone of you help me with this?

The best advice I can give you is don't become and accumulater(like me) pick a style or maker or pattern and concentrate on that.

Buy the best ya can afford.

There's nothin' wrong with tradin' to improve your collection.

Last thing is collect what ya like and learn as much about what you'll be collectin' as possible, no one knows everything and you can always learn more.

Welcome to the Forums and welcome to one of the worst sicknesses known to man.

Hi and wecome to the forums.

As for safe online stores, I have dealt with Grand Prarie Knives and True North Knives. Both have been pleasant and fair experiences, but I can't say if either one ships to Iceland or not.

Good luck with your collection.

Thanks for the reply. They don't have to ship to Iceland. We have a company that ships overseas, Shop Usa. Ships everything from the US.

No need to buy a Sebenza from a store. It is one of the few knives that you can buy sight unseen without any qualms whatsoever.

I respect T. Erdelyi's opinion regarding this, but my suggestion is the exact opposite. I say you should collect/accumulate/use/carry the widest variety of knives and blades objects possible in the beginning - expose yourself to the hugely diverse world of knives. Then over time begin to "zoom in" on what interests you.

Also I would suggest not getting over your head financially in the beginning. I have no interest in knowing anything about your personal economics, but you've selected several knives that I would consider very expensive, especially for a beginner. You'll learn more by buying three high-quality $50 knives than a single $150 knife. If that makes sense...

That's just my own philosophy; there's no right or wrong way to go about buying pocketknives. I've been Accumulating knives of every sort for over 25 years. I've recently decided on a couple of areas to Collect semi-seriously, but I'll never give up Accumulating as well.

My latest shoppings were a size 8 Opinel...
A great knife. My own EDC Opinel is a #9, but I actually prefer the #8 - fits my hand size better and is less bulky to carry.

My favorite online knife dealers are:
AG Russell (home of the Featherlite)
KnifeWorks
Smoky Mountain Knife Works (eknifeworks) (you'll wade through a lot of Chinese crap, but they often have the lowest prices on name-brand knives)
Knife Outlet
DLT Trading (for Bark River knives)
Ragweed Forge

I would like to thank you for that sound advise. In my case though the customs cost is almost as much as the cost of the knife itself so I'll have to choose very carefully what I decide to buy. But It's true that one can get high quality knives for low cost and one doesn't have to go for the name brands wich aren't always better.
I cannot afford not to accumulate knives since there are so few retailers around with good products on my spot on this earth. I pickup everything I can get my hands on.
