Starting some new strops today. Here is a pic of the rough cut paddles for the strops. I used 1X4 Red Oak. Got some sanding to do now and some leather cutting.
Yeah for some reason I kept thinking about when I was in elementary and middle school. That was when they werent afraid to use those things and did quite frequently.
When I was in junior high school (a very long time ago), one of the teachers used to sit atop a step-ladder in the lunch room, 'observing' the behavior of the students, and holding a large paddle, much like yours, with evenly spaced holes drilled in it. I presumed, as did the rest of my friends, the holes were there to reduce wind resistance when the paddle was swung. Very effective teaching aid.
Okay here are the blanks all sanded and the handles routed. They are a little uneven but I dont think it will matter. Now to stain or not to stain that is the question.
