Starting to get annoyed with CRKT

Yesterday I received a CRKT Bladelock I had ordered via the internet. The knife was in great condition except that there were a few rough spots along the edge as if the blade had been blunted on and object. This is the fourth CRKT knife I have ordered over the web and all four had similar conditions.

The first one was an M16-02 which had a nick on the blade towards the tip. "No problem" I said, so I gave it a few passes over a ceramic rod to remove it.

The second was an L.U.S. which came with a few rough spots like the Bladelock mentioned above. Again, I smoothed out the edge on a ceramic rod.

The third was a Ryan model 7 which had several nicks along the edge, so again I had to whip out the ceramic rod to remove them.

I have no problem sharpening my knives, but I've bought knives from Buck, Camillus, Gerber, Spyderco and Benchmade over the web and they've never arrived with the problems mentioned above. Now, if I want to order another CRKT, I'll have to have my ceramic rod ready for when the UPS guy arrives.

Sorry, had to vent.

Have you considered that maybe it isn't only CRKT's fault? Maybe someone at the place you're ordering from is playing around with the knives before you get them. I know this is the case with the local B&M shops I frequent. I am only offering this suggestion because I've never gotten a CRKT without a perfect edge.

That is a possibility. One always takes a chance when ordering the web, so I'll have to try ordering from another site, or find a retail store in my area that stocks CRKT knives.

El Cid,

What site did you get your CRKT knives from? Would'nt want to make th sam mistake you did, although it is kinda nice touching up a blade. Must be a knife thing or something.

I have good experience with CRKT knives. Not "the best of the best" knives, but very good, for the price I can't expect more.

I own quite a few CRKT knives, and I've never received one that wasn't nice and sharp (with no obvious flaws).

El Cid, check out your supplier. In the last 3 years we sold in excess of 5,000 CRKTs and had exactly 1 returned for a flaw on the blade. CRKT personally checks every knife they get before shipping.

I have had a hard time deciding if this thread belongs here or in GB+U. Is the problem really with CRKT or with one vendor in particular? I know that I have had extremely good luck with CRKT, but have always been able to handle what I was getting before laying down the $$$. It would be an extremely small chance statistically for any one person to have so many problems with CRKT's quality if the knives were drawn from a random pool. Who is to say? I'm not pointing any fingers at all. This may spur a debate about the advantages/disadvantages of buying online, sight unseen. FWIW,YMMV.

I own several CRKT's, all purchased from diff.
Dist.'s, with no problems. Did you purchase all
of the above mentioned knives from the same vendor?
