Love it A lesson that will live with him forever....reminds me of when I gave my daughter her first blade and taught her some basic skills....now she uses her knife to make camp fires, traps, etc. Great to see parents getting thier kids outside....good on ya!

That's great! My kids (3 and 4 years old) and I recently had our first lessons. They each are able to carry their knives on our hikes, but we don't open them up yet.

Man, he looks just like you BBQ. Great pics. Thanks for posting them. Looks like he's headed in the right direction.

Cool man, I'm gonna do more of this type thing. Only my 3 year old has any interest in my tools. I did part of a BeckerHead contest with him last summer. We made some camp furniture.

Show off that sheath BBQ. At first I thought it was one of mine - but I don't do my belt loop that long. I just want to check it out!

That kid is going to be SPOILED starting with a custom like Andy's!

Nice pics, reat to start them young! I let my youngest help me in the kitchen to start with, cutting mushrooms and vegetables when I cook, then expanded to the woods. She isn't ready for fire crafting just yet, but her older sister could embarrass the boys starting fires on rainy days using only a knife and a fire steel by middle school. The cutting edge is one of mans oldest tools, good to keep kids aware of how to effectively use them. Keep up the practice.

Eh, she was always wanting to help me cook so I thought it as good a place as any to start learning blade control. I'll start her on fire craft later this winter or maybe next winter depending on how she does...she's six.
