Photos Stash / Cache Knives

By knives in your stash/cache, I assume you mean knives you have set aside for special times or needs. Am I correct in my assumption?

The only knives I have that are set aside like that are some Victorinox Spartans and a couple of multi-tools.

One Spartan rides in my North Face daypack and another hides in my 72 hour bag along with a Gerber MP 400 and Leatherman Wave.

I do have plans for others to be set aside though. A full size Griptilian and an OKC fixed blade both come to mind.

And, I have a cheap Fury combo edge folder in my CERT gear. Forgot about that.

:) Yes ,exactly .

When younger , I was much more active as a semi-serious survivalist . Now called preppers . More just a habit nowadays .

I keep some useful stuff , hidden away from the house just in case . Robbery , fire , tornado ...whatever .

Couple of backup portable hard drives . Some tools and equipment . Emergency supplies and meds .

DocJD DocJD , I gotta ask, why those specific knives in your stash?
Mostly because I don't use any of these routinely , yet wouldn't want to lose them . I have my user versions of the same or similar in more easily accessible locations .

Not that these couldn't be used for many survival purposes . The Cold Steel Trail Master , for example , is a good all round big woods knife . This one is San Mai and near mint . My user is O1 and more beat up looking from use .

I have knives everywhere . All over the house , in the barns , vehicles ...etc . Not necessarily organized by functional logic . :p

Let's see ... a Mora Companion in every vehicle. My backpack I carry with me (or in my truck) has a CS SRK (SK5 steel) in in. I tend to carry nothing too expensive in case of theft.

I don't place knives around the house. I have CPL and do carry a pistol around when it is safe to do so. That includes around the house. I don't want to hide guns around the house and I don't want to run to get a firearm if I need it. My wife is on board. She has her CPL too.

a steel cache, huh??!

I have a weakness for bottled Mexican sodas so I have some sort of SAK in each vehicle. And a Gerber multi-tool. Their bottle openers get more use than any other tools. I figure they see more use in six to twelve months than any fixed blade I will ever own.

I must admit that I do have an inexpensive fixed blade that ultimately will end up as part of the gear in my Cherokee. If I ever get it back on the road, of course.
Then I have to find the knife. I think it is buried in the spare bedroom.

Just another reason for me to clean up this place and get rid of stuff I don’t have a need for.

My bug out load is too big to make it out of the house. Before I knew what I was doing I bought some big Swamp Rats and Condor choppers. Also several nice tomahawks and a couple decent machetes. Bags of Vic alox. Lol. The only thing they have cut is my wallet.

The only knife I put in the official bag is a ka-bar impact warthog. It's one of those small big knifes. I believe it is the sharpest knife out of the box I have ever received. I think it would do quite well in the end times.

What is an impact warthog?

I don't have a bugout bag and hoping I never need one...but I do have knives, fixed and folders.
Not expecting any emergencies, but who knows with this virus playing havoc and everybody out of work?

I have a SAK Classic stashed in my vehicle, attached to a tool chain comprising a whistle, a ResQMe, and a Nite Core tube, all orange, along with keys to my in laws and folks' houses, Lego Boba Fett and nail clippers. The orange wasn't intended, just stuff I had collected over the years, and was conveniently themed when I decided to put these things together. Looks kinda neat.

Otherwise, a couple utility knives and shears in my house tool bag, and my car's tool kit. Nothing too interesting.

I don’t keep any knives in either of my cars. Several years ago, someone broke into a car of mine and stole a Leatherman Wave I kept locked in the glove compartment; it was the only thing they stole, besides a $5 cardboard window shade(?!). Although I no longer have that car, but because of that, I won’t leave any tools or anything else of value in a car, much less a knife or multi-tool.

I don’t know if it’s considered stashing knives, but I have knives in three different rooms in the house. More for convenience than anything else.

I believe it all depends on the conditions of the place you live in . Our cars are fairly secure , normally .

Although not too long ago , someone stuck a knife in one of our car tires while we were shopping in the local , rural Walmart . Random vandalism or mistaken identity , IMO . But nowhere and no-one is ever entirely immune .
