Wondering if anybody has experience here and can chime in. Pretty sure I should just get a solid response from MSP either way.

Regarding black powder revolers, according to the MSP FAQ they are not subject to the typical pistol licensing for purchase (not talking about CCW here) as a modern handgun. But in the quoted legislation, at least the online text I found of it, I was unable to find reference to the sbject material listed in the FAQ. What's the deal?

From MSP FAQ:
2. I have a replica of an antique pistol. Is a License to Purchase or Pistol Sales Record required in Michigan? Is it necessary that I obtain a Michigan Concealed Pistols License?
MCL 28.422 No, antique pistols made before 1898 and replicas of antiques that use black powder, matchlock, flintlock, percussion cap or similar type of ignition system do not require a License to Purchase. The pistol is still subject to all concealed pistol licensing laws.

To the best of my knowledge, it means that you can purchase one without a purchase permit. After that you must comply with all other firearm laws when it comes to transporting, carrying (concealed or otherwise), and use.

Michigan law also prohibits mail-order of black powder firearms.

Thats what I got out of it also. But what confuses be is when I lookk up 28.422 it doesn't mention anything abotu black powder what so ever... Unless that is just an error is putting it online?
