I'm really interested in this knife. I've always thought an American made EDC folder would be a great idea. But I'm not ready to pull the trigger on this offering. It looks very nice but I can't decide if its overpriced? Is it a reasonable offering at the price or am I paying a premium because it is a Kabar? On the other hand am I simply being unreasonable? Thoughts, please?

My honest take…

Bought it the first day it was offered even though I thought the blade shape was peculiar and looked ugly, I always want to support KA-BAR. It is very robust and heavy knife that is made well. I think it gets a lot of influence from the Spartan Harsey Folder (and that’s not surprising considering the two companies relationship), but a big difference is that the KA-BAR has a flipper tab. The blade shape has still not grown on me and I don’t carry it often. I prefer the SHF.

J jbib , two final thoughts:

1. There’s a new S&U folder coming out soon that looks interesting and has a lower price (check Instagram).

2. There are a lot of quality American made edc folders out there!

What's your price range for a USA made edc folder?
I was hoping KaBar would come out with something at the Hogue price point. I'm sorry but the KaBar (my guts only) seems about $100 over priced. And I readily acknowledge I could be all wet. And I should know because is you asked my wife I've blown a lot of money on knives over the year. Still there's something about a KaBar and walking around with a fixed blade model would probably accomplish is me getting hauled off at least for looking weird.

Difference is you are clearly a collector while I could be best described as an accumulator. Those are all very nice and of high quality.

Thank you, I attempted to answer your question, though I don’t know what you mean with the labels. Always find it a little odd when someone else tries to define my relationship with knives (or anything else, really).

Respect. You showed an array of similar high quality items much like a stamp collector would display his expensive and rare stamps. I couldn't do that. I have pearls among swine.

I understand you better now. That’s just my SHF drawer with them grouped together, I’ve always kept the OSF with them because they feel so similar. I could show you my Opinel or SAK drawer too; functionality being paramount with any tool, you can find real gems that work at all price levels.

I have to share with you that I am anticipating that new S&U folder. A reasonable price kabar folder. Made in USA is a big yes for me. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.
