well while i was searching for a black alox pioneer, i found an ebay store that has a variety of SAKs in stay glow all of which i had never seen before-i dont know if these were a special dealer order, or whether we'll be seeing a new color option soon-

among those that i can remeber were the ranger, minichamp, angler, huntsman, and tinker, and i think a cyber champ as well-and others-see central valley wholesale-no affiliation whatsoever

i ordered the sg ranger at a bin price of 36.00-seemed less than buying two knives and then attempting to change scales without mis-hap

thats central valley wholesale? he strips the scales off other saks and "makes" stayglo models

I bought something inexpensive (Bantam, I think) from that seller a while back and the transaction was smooth. I notice he/she/they seem to carry a lot of used SAKs, including discontinued models.

The seller has a 100% rating -- I'm sure your knives will be okay. But do let us know... :D

I just bought a Stay Glow Tinker and a Red alox Pioneer from Central Valley. Thanks for the heads up.

I tied a GID hangman's lanyard onto a GID SAK. It hangs off a hook in the wall next to my bed like a homing beacon for the weary. They are both spooky but cool and quite bright for a short time.

Central Valley is the gold standard in knife vendors. I can vouch for them.

been out of town-kinfe arrived and the work is first class-as was the prompt delivery and packing

now-i have a question
this knife has the victorinox engraving on the large balde but not "rostfrie" and no swiss cross bow on the reverse side where is says officer suisse

and

the file does not have a cross hatch pattern but simply parallel lines for the file-

i take it these are the latest in SAK ( this is the first new sak ive purchased other than the rescue in probably 2 years)-anyone help me out as to wehn the file pattern changes as well as the elimination of rostfrei and the cross bow logo on the large blade???

no i didnt get the black alox-

but i did get

a rosewood swiss champ-interesting-no pen, no pin, and cross is painted on instead of inlaid-still nice-dont think its old stock-it has no groove in the corkscrew, and does have a hook- i think given the spacing of the pen and pin grooves so close to the edge they arent included so as to avoid splintering -cracking-(given in particular being parallel to the wood grain on the scales)

yes i really like the new ranger-but would really like any info on the file and logo changes

the rosewood champ-while fairly pricey (90) compared to a red one (39 in the fanny pack clear outs) -is pretty cool-and i think will only improve with time, although the logo will probably wear off as well-really a different look for an SAK-

thanks
steve

I just got my Stay Glow Tinker and Red Alox Pioneer from Central Valley.

The box had a label that said "Stay Glow Climber". However there was a photo of a Stay Glow Tinker on the back along with 2 other Stay Glow knives. I don't know if this was a rehandled Tinker or if it came from the factory this way.

At any rate, it is a top notch Victorinox SAK.

Thanks for the link - just ordered a lot of 3 pre-owned. Got the Ruby Huntsman, Sapphire Climber, and a Pocket Pal.

In the U.S., only the Climber comes with Stay Glow, Central Valley, like I do, switches the scales onto other 91 mm knives.

I have a very old Swiss Champ that I purchased in the mid '70's. I carried it on my belt for years and got into a crash on my motorcycle and scarred the scales pretty badly.

Can anyone tell me if they know of anyone who could change out the scales with StayGlow scales?

Thanks for the link darklight but I couldn't find anything there.

Does anyone know where to find instructions on how to remove SAK scales and where one could get some DayGlow scales? Thanks much.
