I'm sure some of you folks are getting hit by the arctic blast like we are. Hope you all stay warm in this early freeze.

We're at 7 right now, going down to 0 tonight. High tomorrow of 7.

Supposed to be going camping this weekend, but snowing and 0 degrees in a tent might call it off. I'm really needing a tipi and a HPG shepherd stove if I'm going to be doing this winter stuff.

I hear you. We are probably going to get down to 50 tonight and might only get up to 62 tomorrow. I might have to put on a sweatshirt.

Yeah, I'm really not minding the break from the snow after the 9 feet of it last year, and the 5 solid weeks of temps no higher than -14F. Here it will be in the mid to upper 50s tomorrow, but where we were last year will be in the low 30s and snow :)

Lol, try not to freeze to death in that bitter cold :)

I leave for Felch in Michigan's upper peninsula to deer camp Friday. They just received 20" of snow yesterday. The temps will be in the teens/lower 20s for highs and single digits for lows. It's going to be a cold hunt. It's also going to be interesting just trying to get back into the camp with that much snow. Camp is about 7 miles in on an old un-plowed single lane dirt road and two track. But hey ... It's deer camp!!

I recently moved from Eastern North Carolina to Northern Iowa. We got hit yesterday by the polar vortex and temp went from around 50 to 15 with a few inches of snow. This premature kick-start to Winter is definitely a culture shock.

While much of the country is feeling the big chill from Astro, here in SW Florida we're still experiencing our "Endless Summer". This is a photo of the drive coming into our community here in Naples......hope it helps to warm some spirits, if not, then perhaps a shot bourbon will do the trick ;)

I walked to my truck in a tshirt after work Monday. Now it's in the 20s! I'm all for winter, it's one of my favorite seasons. But sometimes I wish it wouldn't rush in like a tornado.

All the smaller lakes around here froze over during the past week. Probably thick enough to ice fish. Winter came two weeks earlier this year, steady cold. It does indeed look like another big wide winter is settling in. I cut and piled extra firewood during the cold wet summer in case winter would be wide again. Glad I did, as running low on firewood is misery. At the moment it is snowing lightly, and the temperature is -6 C.

For you guys with the flowers and 60s, BAH. :D

Monday when the kids left for school in the morning it was 65. When they got home it was 20. This morning it was 1 when they headed out. It's made it up to 2 so far.

I feel for you guys. That's some nasty stuff. My wife would probably pack up and leave my ass if I lived in a place like that.

Be safe guys.

A song to help thaw the blood.

I'm a little worried. It's only going to be in the 80's today. I heard it might break into the low 60's tonight. Burr! :D So chilly on the porch this morning.

That looks nice all white

We haven't had a proper winter in years over here, not sure if it'll be any different this year since it's still pretty warm (18 degrees Celsius today). I'm not complaining though, since my daily transportation is done on two wheels.

We just returned from a 2 week vacation in Arizona; the weather was excellent every day we were there.

Pretty nice here in NY today as well - broke a sweat working outside this afternoon. I don't hate the cold/snow, but I am going to soak up these last few days of sunshine.

Windy and a little cold during the night with clear skies here on the east coast (East Anglia). Problem with the wood burner in that the wind is forcing smoke back down it so an absolute pig to light and get going! To top it all local Stihl dealer has called to tell me my saw is DOA! Get your dough out fella and get rid of those hard earned £'s and replace that chainsaw. At least it aint snowing and well below zero like some of you guys ....bbbrrrrr

Pics or it didn't happen :D

It is a shock when you go into that after a lifetime in the south!

Makes me miss the days when I lived in Key Largo and the Everglades was my weekend playground!

Yeah, I was a bit worried Lisa was going to pack up and leave my ass those 5 weeks of no sun, howling wind, day time highs of -14F or lower and night time lows from -27F to -39F. But then I realized there was no way she would risk it before the thaw as long as I kept heat in the house :). It costed me several of my favorite Fiddlebacks to do it...at the price gouging of $700 per half tank of propane (and I had to do that four times in four months), but she didn't leave me, and we are back in Tennessee :D

Oh, you poor dear! However will you manage?! :D

It got to around 19 F where I am in eastern Washington state. No white stuff since there's little moisture.

I like the change of seasons. I've lived in Arizona and my family's from Hawaii. Christmas isn't the same when it's in the 80s, palm trees are swaying in the breeze, & the guy in the heavy Santa suit is sweating !

I too like the change of seasons. It's one of the reason I'll do anything to stay in Colorado forever. Fall here was great this year. I really like the winter too. It's just the shock of going from 65 to 0 in a day that's not wanted. :)

I'm in Western WA on the Puget Sound and it got chilly enough to put on a jacket today. There was even frost this morning. This is unacceptable. I wanted a longer chanterelle season.

When I lived in San Diego I always threatened to have a Christmas palm tree. It was over 90 where I lived down there not long ago. Crazy. I'd rather put on a jacket than sweat, though, and I love the drizzly rain we get here all the time.
