Not been much fun being unable to do a whole lot (except get my fanny perpendicular chewed off by the better half), so I felt something was needed to keep occupied and not go stir-crazy. Danny's post concerning building his 3-string guitar awhile back piqued my interest and caused me to start building ukuleles. Finished another one (pineapple shaped) late this afternoon, but still have a uke being built that looks like a Fender Telecaster guitar. Making that large pineapple decal was "interesting". Darn nice work Mr. Bookie. You look just like Elvis in that last photo.

That strat uke looks like it will be quite a piece when you get r dun too.

Never seen you do anything half way yet, you certainly didn't round off no corners on these neither.
Very well done.

Dang Steve! Thats a Whole Lot of Rosie right there brother! That's the Pineapple BomB! It still amazes me what you pull out your tool box! My wife was experimenting on how to transfer them photos to wood and all and i thought that was a pretty cool process. I cant do it yet but ill have to pick yalls brains soon! I want to put that pic of Aunti Yangdu with the Janawar Katne on my Cigar box. You freekin nailed that Pineapple tho! Well done sir! That made my night and next day!
Im trying to learn some southern rock and also some Angus songs on my three string and have actually recorded some but cant get them uploaded on youtube. They time out and dont work for some reason. Maybe they are censoring me thinking its political or maybe just cause they suck?
So 17 frets four strings? Thats a full fretboard! GDG? Id have to figure that one out? Pineapple BomB!!! Thats what i call it! Love it doc! Your awesome amigo!

Ah! Also I went to a local knife show today and it was total success! Met lots of great local blacksmiths and made bunch of good connections. I wore my HI T-Shirt and one smithy noticed and said he knew Sgt. Kadkha and had some knives he made way back. I dont know much more but I made a bunch of connections. I want to follow up on it. Im thinking there might be some opportunity for HI? Just a thought? Its the premier show and it will most likely continue.

I came close to buying a ukulele at the Polynesian Cultural Center when I was in Hawaii for my honeymoon. Eventually decided against it. If I ever do resolve to learn it I know I can obtain one without too much difficulty.

Ukelele are much cheaper, and very authentic from the right sellers at the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet/ Flea Market on Wednesdays.

Not surprised. Lots of people sang the praises of the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet, but we weren't able to make it there.

Thank you for the kind words. Fellers, honestly, I've been doin' CCR, AC/DC, and a whole bunch of Vietnam era songs.....and literally, I do play a B-A-D Stairway to Heaven! An' as fer lookin' like Elvis, that'd be Elvis Johanssen, the guy who drives our garbage truck. He hates it when I call him Dad. 'Dog, my personal choice for total frets is 19. That's what you'll find on the tenor size ukes.

I'm not a luthier, by any means of the word. Been making all wood banjos since about 1980. Just started on ukes late last fall. After I get the Teleuke finished, I do believe I'll make an electric one with a solid body, of course. Miniature amp to go along with it, too. Included are two photos stolen from the internet to give you an idea of the direction I'm heading with the "Teleukes". (I favor the Telecaster "butterscotch" paint with a black-white-black pick guard.)download (1).jpg download.jpg

I remember the Sarge. Was dismayed a tad when he left as I always wanted one of his knives, but was too broke at the time any come up for sale to get one.

Bookie, you are multi-talented. You're a luthier in my book. You need to send us some videos of you playing banjo. I love blue grass.

Never stop amazing me brother, skills galore. Those are some fine looking ukes im sure they play well, keep it up man.

Bookie, you've met Irene and she was deeply impressed with your Uke work. I doubt there's much higher praise than that.
Far as that AC/DC thing would it help to reverse the polarity? Just sayin.

Course she asked why I couldn't do nothing cool like you, told here there's only one Bookie, don't crowd him.

Great pix and post, thank you for sharing

Wow, the one you are playing in the picture wearing the AC/DC shirt looks like a high dollar one from a guitar store. It actually looks like a tiny guitar. You are definitely pro. The my favorite is the plain-Jane-brown-stained one. Do you sell these?
