So the wifey and I are heading to Glacier for our honeymoon and she just happened to rent us a house in none other than Post Falls, Idaho (see why I married her?)!

We’re on our way to the Buck Store right now and we have a factory tour scheduled for tomorrow at 10am (I hope the BladeForums knife is on the tour)!

Is there anything in particular I absolutely HAVE to check out while I’m at the store? Anything special? Exclusive?

I’m super excited!

the folks who live near there will get ya answers. have fun and post some pics for us.

Cool knife Fixall. They didn't have anything like that when I visited a couple years ago.

That's a sweet looking knife :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Are those Band Aids? Nice :D

Thanks! I’ve heard they exist, but I’ve never had the pleasure of coming across an s30v 119 and when the wife saw my eyes light up she said I’d better get it, lol.

It was blem that was 50% off the retail price of over $200 and the only issue is the smallest imperfection in the secondary bevel (I always set my own edges anyways after getting a knife).

I can’t seem to find any info about the knife when I try searching for the box code though... Maybe it’s a blem from the custom shop??? I’d like to find out what the handle is made of. Looks like cocobolo or maybe cherry to me.

And yes sir, those are most definitely band-aids! Hilarious right? I love Buck.

It's an unbadged Cabelas Alaskan Guide 119. Very nice knife.

  • Fine-edged, clip-point S30V steel blade
  • Easy to sharpen with conventional stones
  • Comfortable wood handle
Cabela’s Alaskan Guide Series 119 Fixed-Blade Knife by Buck Knives features a comfortable wood handle and a fine-edged, clip-point blade crafted of extremely strong S30V steel. This steel also has a high chromium content for oxidation resistance. Includes a brown leather sheath for safekeeping.
Blade length: 6".

Hell of a "Blem",the unbadged combo might give it that odd factor a little further down the road. As for the wife, hold on to her tight, when mine sees my eyes light up over a knife she tells me "wipe that goofy look off your face ya weirdo". Now the Buck band-aids, that's some good marketing right there.

The tour was AWESOME! No new info on the forum knife unfortunately but there was plenty of other really cool sights and info to take in.

Our group was the very first group that Buck has allowed to tour the Cerakote coating room which was REALLY cool! It’s a VERY sensitive process with several steps that have to be followed to a “T”. For example, the coating has to sit for a minimum of 15 minutes, but no longer than an hour and a half before setting or the whole process is ruined. Buck is still perfecting their technique on SEVERAL different colors (they had a couple dozen on display and said they had access to hundreds). You should be able to find Buck’s Paklite in several different colors soon (Robin’s Egg Blue was sooo beautiful) as well as some new color choices for blades.

Another cool part was we walked past a table with a bunch of nylon 112 scales. The kicker... They were ALL KINDS of colors. The tour guide said it hadn’t been announced yet but soon you’ll be able to find a Buck 110 LT, 112 LT, etc in any number of colors. I saw blue, red, and green.

Let’s see... Oh! The warranty department was rad! It’s ran by ONE person who has been taking care of our knives for 43 years! When you send a knife in for repair, he is the ONLY person who works on your knife. I find that very awesome. I find it incredible that Buck offers a lifetime warranty on all their knives, regardless of how you acquired them. Buy a blemish? Covered. Find a 110 under a rock? Covered. Amazing. He had a “greatest hits” wall with five six of the worst of the worst he has seen in his 43 years with Buck. I wish I could have gotten a picture, some were so mangled that I’m not sure how he identified the model to send a replacement!

They also had a newer machine that they were excited about. The machine allows them to make both male and female knife hardware IN HOUSE so they no longer have to outsource for screws and whatnot. Just another reason to be a fan of Buck.

All in all, we had a fantastic time and I would highly recommend and knife enthusiast stop by for a tour if you’re in the area!

Good call! I talked to them today and that’s exactly what it is. S30V with a black TiNi coating, cocobolo rosewood handle, and brass bolsters with micarta inlays.

Looks like I was pretty lucky as I think the Cabela’s 119 exclusive is gorgeous... I just don’t care for the badging. :D

Right!? I’m still trying to find the small imperfection on the edge that the sticker was pointing to, lol. I thought maybe it was the slight imperfection in the finish, but when I got back to the house we rented, the spots wiped right off. :D

I really like that it’s an oddball with no badging! Gives it some uniqueness. :)

This knife will definitely be sticking with me forever (assuming nothing bad happens to it). Hopefully it’ll bring back memories of the honeymoon every time I use it. ;)

I’ll be hanging on to the wife too... We’ve only been married a few days but we’ve been together over 11 years. Any woman who has that kind of patience and can put up with me for that long is a keeper!

Sounds like that tour was a blast and a great addition to all the other cool stuff that happens on the honeymoon.:D Great info you brought back for us. It sounds like Buck has a lot coming down the pipe. I have the 143 Paklite with the black traction coating that I love so I can't wait to see some colors. As for that knife one day when we're long gone your grandkids kids will be going thru your piles of stuff and it with come across the auction block as "The Blem that wasn't really a Blem just a unbadged custom 119" and someones kin on here will be posting about ito_O:confused::eek:. All kidding aside congrats on the marriage and beautiful knife.

Awesome review. It was just like being there!

Great insider information too  thanks!
