Tan micarta Standard vs Magnum - Is there a performance trade off?? For example do the mags better absorb shock from batoning, or is it just for personal preference?
Thanks All!!

I find the mags help the blade feel more secure in your hand during chopping, as far as absorbing shock, not really imho.

Personal preference..........hand size also might play a part.

The Blade also makes a difference.

I will only take standard on larger blades.....actually....I just prefer standard.

Some blades.....FBM Proto (Bullet Nose) the slabs are thick with a mid level mag.......the MOST PERFECT Busse I have used.

I prefer standard on TAC and EU handles. The mags on a TAC just feel too thick to me, and I don't have small hands. I do prefer mags for the ASH, SF and Fusion lines though.

I have very large hands and absolutely prefer mags. They are more comfortable/ergonomic for me. I feel like I have a better grip/more control of the knife.
I know people with smaller hands and some guys with bigger "beefier" hands prefer the standards. So, yes...IMO, hand size seems to play a factor.

One potential advantage of mags is you can then shape them down to the size you prefer.
