Hi everybody, I scored some steak knives in the Ganza and secondary market. Scored a small medium and large. Trying to decide on a sheath kydex or leather ? Anybody know if any off the makers are making these ? Was thinking kydex cause of the thin blade, maybe kydex would provide more protection from bending blade ? But then leather is leather and I feel provides such a nice look and feel.
So what's everyone's thoughts or ideas ? Thanks :)

I'm going to go with kydex for mine, because of an increased need to wash a food-contact blade. I think kydex would have greater utility and level of protection without the need to be careful about moisture contact, drainage, things like that.

I agree with your point about looks, though....a nice leather sheath would look wonderful paired with your steak knife; but it would have a slightly higher level of care/feeding, I'm thinking.

KYDEX :D
I kid, either way good deal. IMO, this is a user which should get messy. For such kydex is ideal IMO. As fas as protecting the thin blade-Yes thin by busse standards but nothing you do (of course w/in reason) is going to cuase such concern. And if it did, the leather put out by Dwayne, Jeff, Chuck and the likes is beefy enough that it would certainly protect it. No less, give me a few days and Ill whip you one up for the cost of a beer at blade :D Cheers my friend

As much as I love leather I think I am going with kydex on mine. I hate shoving a bloody blade into a nice leather sheath when hunting.

Thank you very much buddy :) I'll toss in a tequila chaser ! Can't wait for blade  Thanks for the info too !

Thanks for all the responses everybody, seems kydex is in the front. I do plan on using the blade to process game, so all the advice makes sense. Weird but I never thought about cleaning the sheath out ? I've always been able to wash my knives before they go back into sheath, I'm a tad touched with the details lol. Now that it's been brought up, I can see the benefit to kydex :D
