top -- 20 inch 27 ounce perfect Sirupati by Bura. It's Bura's usual 10/10 performance but knife took a hit during shipment. Slight ding on top of buttcap and chipped the horn at the ding. Chipped area about half a bean size. Epoxy fix. Most of chipped horn still in place. Take this one for $50 off, delivered to your door for $75.

no 2 -- 17.5 inch 27 ounce M43 by Shanker. This is an "almost" perfect job by the kid but he stuttered a little on this one. The rig is perfect except there is a slight torque in the blade to the left. I didn't see it first time out but an alert customer did and returned it. It's hard to see and I don't think it will affect performance at all but it's not right so take it for about half price at $75.

no 3 -- 18 inch 28 ounce perfect AK by Bura. Not a thing wrong with this rig. Karda is worth $50 and you get the whole rig for $95 due to overstock. UBBB.

bottom -- new kami -- R. R. with sign of swastika. Since this is a new man and the first khukuri I've seen made by him I gave it a close look. He's a good kami right up in the Sher, Kumar category. Good blade, hard edge, with Sher type "almost convex" edge. Nice handle work. Good finish. Fit about 98%. Very decent karda and chakma but not quite in the Bura category. He has met HI specs with no trouble but we need an impartial field report on this new guy. Earn $50 for a fairly comprehensive field report and we'll send this to you for $75.

Call or email.

Uncle, the symbol your new kami has chosen is a very ancient one that has always had positive connotations to it prior to being used corruptly by the nazis. Another name for swastika is fylfot.

I'd thought of grabbing that chiruwa AK for one of my guys, but you'll probably get a better evaluation of the new kami's work from one of the experienced khuk users on the forum.

Yes, Sarge, that swastika is called by many other names and is considered to be a good luck symbol in Nepal. Used in both Hindu and Buddhist faiths. It's called "Swasti" in Sanscrit (Hindi) and "pata" in Tibetan.

Specs for RR Chiruwa AK are standard. 15", 23 ounces, 2 x 3/8.

Darn! (or something like that).

Wish I'd felt qualified to report on the new guy.

:o Preaching to the choir, sorry Uncle. I was just thinking about some of the reactions I've seen to the kami's marks already, i.e., cross for Sanu, and star of David (hexagram) for Kumar. A swastika will really mess with their heads.:D

I'm still waiting for my Bura siru to come back to me. It's been on a grand country tour. Made pre-stroke, so it'll have an honored place upon it's return.

I wondered if anyone would voice the, 'pre stroke, post stroke' possibilities in Bura. Has anyone with a 'post stroke' noticed a difference?

kardas are different, for one, and very, very nice.

Got a Chiruwa AK and BGRS both by Bura, around October. Sweet, sweet, sweet little kardas, with a big belly and sharp point.

Bura makes the best kardas of anybody in the shop.

And his 18" AK is still looking. I thought it would be the first to go which shows how much I know.
