Thomas- That was my first thought. Good lookin' lineup, tho.

I think it's the same one from yesterday. What we have there is a 16.5 WWll about as heavy as a chir AK. That is one neat thing. And I would get it except I owe too much. The edge looks nice too- convex.

munk

Yeah, Sher puts an almost convex edge on his khuks. Looks nice. Somebody will grab it and give it a good home. Looks like a good user khuk. ;)

Well, that ended that temptation. Rag, that blade weighed about as much as a chiruwa.

munk

You rich Government workers....come the revolution...I'll come live at your house.

Yeah, I've been fretting just a little over that blade since yesterday when no one wanted it.

I hope this isn't the only heavy short WWll I'll ever see. I kinda doubt that.

You really got a nice one.

raghorn or any others that bought one of the recent khukuri's that had the rust on the tip.

Could you post what steps you use to remove the rust when you get them ? I know there are other posts on search and have read them, but I was wondering if about these khukri's in peticular since I bought one as well.

I got most of it off but still have some left.

Any help is appreciated.

I know from personal experience Raghorn likes to stick his into the still beating and warm corpse of his enemies to clean off any residue or rust accumulation.

Good snag there Raggy, that WWII looks like a winner.
As far as rust removal goes, I have just used sandpaper going to finer grades up to 2000 grit to polish out the scratches left by the coarser stuff. Seems to work ok. You can polish the blade out more but depends on whether you want to display the khuk or just use it.

OK, Don't Laugh...It Works!

On my Balance and 12" AK I used a CLR (Calcium Lime & Rust) Remover.
The stuff I used was from Home Depot and actually removed ALL rust,
leaving the faint pitting. Just applied in the area with a rag,
let it set about 5 minutes, and scrubbed of with the same rag.
I finished up with 1500 grit and viola, Poifect...

I use this stuff quite often cleaning many things, including
alloy wheels. Works great! ;)

I start with 000 steel wool and Rem-oil to knock the surface stuff off. Then I use sandpaper - 150 and 220 grits. Often I'll rub the entire blade to a satin finish at the same time. usually there's some pitting left, I don't worry about it much.

After that, I'll either oil it or do a mild vinegar etch and turtle wax.

Thanks anyway Bruise, but I think that might take to long and sounds like to much manual labor is involved for this lazy guy. That blade is pretty thick. ;)

raghorn, that's exactly what I used and still had very slight pitting, I'll try the sandpaper. It will probably get the rest out.

Thanks for all the help. Even yours Bruise.;)
