Thought you guys might like to see what was run in our local paper recently regarding Busse and the Stealth Hawk. I am willing to bet that the Stealth Hawks become very valuable very quickly - if our gov't does not intervene and stop their sale entirely.

Jeez, hysteria rules.

Where is the ad copy for those visciously thin razor blades Gillette makes specifically to be loaded into murderous box cutters for the purpose of hijacking jet aircraft? Or supporting a movement for the banning of serrations on plastic picnic knives?

Have to agree with you Contender. Anyone who would like to get rid of their Stealth Hawk to avoid arrest, legal harrassment or embarrassment, drop me a line and let me know how much you want for yours !! maximo199@yahoo.

Why did I see this coming?

This will only lead to one thing,as awful as it might sound. ...Stealth Hawk hoarding;)

I think they are actually illegal in a lot of areas now. There was some discussion on this on McClung's forum a few years ago because of his ceramic knives (lots of which you can buy from Gerber etc.) . The amusing thing is that you can also buy them (plastic knives) readily as vegetable / fruit knives in supermarkets. No you can't pound them through a piece of 1x4" but human skin is not even close to that cut/tear resistant. You can put an edge on them that will easily cut/rip flesh. I experimented with this awhile ago just for amusement more than any practical reason. A decent round file will generate a nice scallop serration pattern. This also increases its ability for its intended purpose if you wanted an excuse for doing it.

The thing that really strikes me as extremely stupid is making something illegal because criminals then won't have them. They are criminals, if you are willing to stab and kill people to take control of an airplane are you seriously going to be bothered because the weapon you are doing it with is illegal. All such laws do is restrict the ability of people to protect themselves. What is even more staggering is that there are lots of examples that this does not work as it has been tried before. And what is even worse is the oppsite approach has been tried as well and it has been showed to work. There was a poll recently that I saw on TV and 30-35% of the people voted to not allow pilots to carry a handgun.

Some people have such an inborn fear of "weapons" that nothing can overcome it and the possibility of rational discussion is simply nonexistant. If everyone on the plane was carrying a Battle Mistress how much leverage would a box cutter have been?

Hey Cliff..

I definately agree....

You know I havebn't thought about those plastic kitchen knives for quite some time...

I think they advertise them so the knife doesn't brown the veggies...
I've looked at them as well and thought they'd make a somewhat limited weapon...

The thing is,,with even a mild sense of imagination one can put together effective weapons out of just about anything..

Ask anyone whos spent time at Rikers NY Pen...They fasion some pretty wild stuff...

And No the laws make absolutely no sense...The Sheeple want to ban everything...

Strong agreement with you, Cliff. Our society is being taught to always depend on 'the officials' to come protect them, yet I've heard of cases of waiting over 2 hours for police to come pick up a drugged up burglar that some citizens captured.

As for banning non-metallic knives, you'll never be able to stop people from figuring out a way around it. Plexiglass can take a nice edge...or real glass for that matter. Shoot, even a primitive obsidian knife can be sharper than just about any steel. You really can never stop it.

And Normark, you are absolutely correct, the Sheeple want to ban everything. There are self appointed superior thinkers who believe that if the government passes more laws, the law abiding people will be safer. Nothing could be further from the truth.

How many people might be alive today if a couple of law abiding citizens onboard those flights had a Busse Steel Heart or Chris Reeve Project 1?

Just think!

A strong will and some modest implements can make a difference; just look at history!

Here's a posting made a while back to the Practical Tactical forum.

Razoredj, You nailed it on that one. Here's a quote I put on the Busse site forum a while back that wraps up my view on this issue.

"In a knife fight, I'll take whatever I happen to find in my hand and use it. Speed and accuracy, along with determination, will be more important than what type of grind your knife has on it. It's not what's in a man's hand that makes him dangerous. It's what's in his mind and heart. The rest is just his tools of choice."

Yeah, how long before they outlaw any stone material over .5cm,
and any collection of more than 50 pebbles, since that would constitute an arsenal...
