ONe of the many things I need is a good knife steel. I am looking at some F. Dick stuff but I have no experience with steels and would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

There's some good burnishing rods available at 3riversarcherydotcom.

Where's Tony G when you need him?

You want a smooth steel, not the typical grooved type.

Smooth, yes, because we are realigning the edge rather than removing any metal. I would just curious as to which models people liked.

Thanks for the info

I use a smooth F.Dick for realigning edges when I am cutting up deer or for kitchen use. The Diamond steel in the attachment will put an edge on Bussekin steels like you wouldn't believe. Just 2 or 3 light strokes per side. As Jerry would say, YOWZA.
