I have a Dalton Jackal, that I was thinking of blackening the opening lever,
what would be a good way to acomplish this? Could I just get some sort of metal paint, or torch it, or ??? Thanks!

Unless it is high carbon steel it won't blue. If it isn't stainless a perma blue solution from Wal-mart will darken it. Stainless is not going to change and paint probably won't stay on it if it isn't baked on somehow like a professional coating from one of the manufacturers. Even those scrape and scratch off though.

Try some Brownells spray on then bake on coating. I've got some, but havent tried it yet, and the guy at work that gave it to me says his .45 slide coating just gets tougher as time goes on. It may not work on internal parts, and sand or bead blasting are recommended for best results, so you'd have to take apart any individual pieces to avoid damage to surrounding areas. I dont really know what the Jackal looks like, so you'll have to decide if its worth the effort.
