Anyone know if any machinist still makes steel plates for a disc grinder? I know the talk has been about the Nielson plate, but from my research, it seems he doesn't make them anymore? Any ideas, or should I just go with the aluminum?

Thanks!

I don't know why steel would be any better than aluminum unless you are going to throw them around.

I just got 5 discs from him and a hub
He emails best nielsendisc@gmail.com
But if that did not work send him a message on Facebook and he will get to you or call him +1 250-377-3883

I can change grits in 5 seconds with the nielson disc system

I'm happy with my AMK, but I'm tempted to get those discs if they are compatible. The only annoyance I have is switching grits only to soon have to switch back...

"Compatible"? Then Nielson Disc System is only compatible to itself.
It is not cheap and worth every penny, it saves paper, time and work flow.

I meant compatible in the sense of the 5/8" shaft if I remove the disk it came with.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.
They don't have PSA in all those grits, but I don't mind messing with spray adhesive and trimming paper if I won't have to remove it again too soon.

Rod still makes them and ships out weekly.

I have a disc for 50 grit, 100 grit, 220 grit, 400 grit and a rubber faced disc as well.
Are you using a cork backing on your other grits? I use 1/8" rubber/cork backing. Makes a world of difference. I cut my paper oversize and it works great for cleaning up plunges.

No, mostly grind my slipjoints hollow ground.
