I have found some knives, but im not sure if they were of good quality. They were 16 dollars for 3, and they looked something like this http://treasuresandfeathers.com/Knives_FB_0001.jpg They had 440 stamped on it. My question is if 440 is a good throwing steel and if this design was any good. I was thinking about just buying a sheet of steel and making a bunch of my own. Any help is appreciated.

I don't care for that design, but it is respected by many; especially those who employ a rotational throw.

440 is stainless; it is the obvious choice for a thrower if one is using stainless. It is probably 440A or B, which is fine for a thrower but not preferred for cutlery.

Were you thinking of buying a sheet of 440, or a sheet of mild steel? I've only seen 440 available as bar. If you find it in sheet, I'd like to know too!

big rusty saw blades work verry well, I think their made of L6, I picked one up for $5 at an amish sawmill. I dont have a plasma cutter but a thin blade on a angle grinder works great, after the blanks are cut out I sand down all the rust untill it's all shinny. Then I bevel the edges toword the tip. The knives I make are normaly 14' long.
