How is the feel of the straight steel handle? On one hand I think it would be a great carry knive because it's slim, but on the other it doesn't seem like the grip would be very ergo...

I've never held one (hopefully I will soon:D ) so I'd like to hear what your experience has been...

There's one (not a bad warden, but another busse slabless) in the mail to me right now, so i should be able to let you know how it feels tonight (or possibly tomorrow night if the mail is slow...)

I'm thinking the same thing as you, super comfortable to CARRY, maybe not as comfortable to USE? For my uses, it'll be great as long as it's safe (secure in the hand and won't "slip".) It's not like I use my EDC for hours on end ever day - just here and there occassional uses really --- simple tasks normally, not long tasks like skinning a hog

I think this Bad Warden is WHAT I've been waiting and hoping for! Good job Boss

Bladelugger;
FWIW, I have a Fehrman Tru Hiker all steel (3V) necker and I have cut up several carboard boxes with it without any hot spots or blisters.
Not trying to switch brands on you but its the only one I have to go by.

Ciao

Did you score a Bad Apple? You suck.

no, i wish...

i'll trade you for that sweet little blade in your avatar!!! :D :D

i got a mean street proto on the way -- pretty psyched to see how it feels.

Bladelugger,

It did come today after all... It feels fine in the hand -- very useable. It's not particularly comfortable, but it's absolutely useable. I intended to immediatly send it off for some slabs, but now i think i want to hang on to it and try it "as is" for a while before making that decision.

However, this knife is a fatty, looks to me to be around 5/16" thick. I doubt the bad wardens are anywhere close to that width, so it'll most likely feel different in the hand.

I can tell you this --- after holding it and playing with it for the last 30 minutes, you do feel "relief" when you grab a nice comfy handled knife. So, it's not "comfortable" but it is totally "secure" -- at least when dry.

hope that helps!

How funny, this little guy has changed hands quite a few times in the last 2 years!

You never put any handles on it - just kept it bare? How often do you wear/use it?

Nope, didn't put handles on it, I have other users in that size. Here is a bad picture of the two.

Keep the opinions coming...it's great info. I just want to thank everyone for replying.

Is there a sheath out there that basically clips the knife into a lightwieght pocket that only protects the blade. Maybe with a small clip like on a folder? I feel like that would be perfect for a knife like this. No frills, just protect the blade.

Nice! thanks for the pic.

It came w/ the Leatherman sheath I was asking you about in Atlanta at Fudruckers too. I bought this to be a user, so we'll see about the handles. I've already done a little investigating into it.

Bladelugger,

I've seen some kydex kind of like what you're saying, but the only way they can work is to really "pinch" the blade -- in other words, retain the blade from tension. Most of the time, sheathmakers use the handle (or at least the guard) to create the "snap" into place.

But I think it's doable, shoot an email to one of the sheath makers...

But, with a knife this slim overall, i don't think you'd have a very bulky package even with the sheath covering part of the handles...
