I am looking for somewhat of a chopper, somewhat big, but I have never held either of these knives and dont know how to get ahold of one. I would have bought a steel heart a little while ago but held back because I have never held one. I like the steel hearts but not the e handles, same with the mistress not that big a fan of the e-handle, its a looks thing. any help?

The fusion battle mistress feels best in the hand, but for chopping, I've found the Straight Handle Battle Mistress' blade performs a little better. Between the SHBM and the FSH.... FSH (Till the FBM comes out) :D

KAAK,
You found that the SHBM performs a little better at chopping than the fusion battle mistress?

Wow.

How did you find that out?

I talked to a few people who are willing to sell steel hearts, what is a good price range estimate on them?

LMAO... Meant to say the Fusion Steel Heart :foot:  :D

Must really want that FBM :o

Don't discount the E-handles until you actually hold one. I too was very turned off by the E-handle appearance when they were introduced, and didn't buy one until years after. They are now my favorite, especially in the Natural Outlaw. And somewhat magically, after using them, they have come to have an attractive appearance to me as well.

The fusion magnum handles are a close second to the E-handles.

Between October 1999 and now I have held(Fondled) a couple hundred I think(combined) Steel Hearts and Battle Mistress's.

I have chopped with a couple dozen.

Straight Handled, I prefered the Steel Heart for chopping for the most part, But I found one SHBM from the first 300 that fits my hand so well that it is my main current beater.

Of the E-Models I liked the BM better for chopping,,,,if you are going to chop alot,,the E-model handle with end up with your hand, wrist and arm less tired.

The Straight BM seems to get the most done per swing.

So get to a place where you can feel a few knives to see what talks to your hand if you possibly can.

I carry a big knife instead of a hatchet, and a small knife(or six) for the regular cutting tasks

see I have no where to handle busse's. I am going to the knife show in December in Timonium Maryland so hopefully I can do my 'fondeling" there

aaaaah... now i dont feel so weird about carrying (literally) 4 blades on me at all times (5 with my coat on, 11 with coat and backpack)

yeah I mean I got introduced to good knives through Reeves, and while picking out a heavy fixed blade I kept seeing busse, but I never find any here, and no stores carry them. But I got my SFNO today and man its sweeeeet. I want to hold more so I can find what i like, I dont have the money to buy them all, or there would be none left. But I want to pick up some e handles, strait handles, I like the looks of the new fusions. I have faith in busse now after I have gotten my first one that they wont dissapoint!!

I'm going to recommend that you wait for a HOFBM, especially since you have an outlaw. That knife is going to be BAD-ASS. I have a HOFSH, and it is heavy. The BM will be a chopper like no other.

The new fusion BM when does it come out? how much would it cost? I looked at it and it does look bad ass.

Jerry said that IF things go as planned (place your bets!) that they should be available to order before the end of the year.
That is they will be available to be ordered. Not shipped. Add 3 months min. for them to be shipped. probably.
OTHERwise, if you're looking for a REAL serious chopper, you may want to post a WTB ad for an Aftershock Bolo. (see www.badmojo.tv for details)
Barring that, if you're looking for your best price, and soonest available, you might want to just get an e-handled mistress. Or if you want something a little lighter/thinner, the Zero Tolerance BM can also be had for a reasonable price, if you get a combat-grade finish (black linen/black coated)
Any more Qs?

Yeah...

1) Why isn't there a fogos in alaska?
2) Why can't I acquire more infi?
3) Why can't I find a woman that is either A: Rich B: Related to Jerry or C: Both?
4) Why do hotdogs come in packages of 8 and buns in packs of 10?

Thanks in advance ;) :D :p

1) Because Jerry sees more than enough white cold stuff here in OH.
2) Because.... Because...... the Exxon-Valdez ship's brother spilled a whole tanker full of INFI-repelent in your harbor. Yeah, that's it.
3) Because you're in Alaska, and there no CHICKs there. (or not many, last I heard the ration was around 8:1)
4) to encourage you to practice your baking skills

Nope no more Q's unless you can direct me in the direction of half off infi??
It is already 1/2 off. Wait until you see full prices.
Or just take a look at the prices of some of the custom shop stuff.
You'll feel better quickly.
FYI, a couple years ago a 10 anniversery custom 7" fighter with knuckle rings sold for $787
Most Busses are around 1/2 this.

good point then i wont argue, I surely dont mind spendin what I spent or more on this blade, and understand why busse calls for such a high price tag which actually isnt bad considering a reeves proj1 can run 300-350 and I got my knife in that range.
