Steel History

Does anyone know or have a good resource that provides the historical introduction of steels like 1095, O1, A2, VG10, XHP, and various Carpenter steels? The best link I could find was on the Crucible site (http://www.crucible.com/History.aspx?c=7), but I'm interested in knowing when some of these other steels were brought to market.

Here is a good place to start. I don't know of anyone that has combined the entire historical context of steel, it does not exist really in one place, rather in multiple places across the web. In addition to the foundry datasheet you you have already found.

Yea, I'd love to have more info on that topic, but it's very difficult to come by. I'll be adding Cricible info to knfie steel database, and there are very few other historical pieces in notes, but generally speaking very little info is available.
