Steel info??

I have some pieces of steel that I would like to know what it is. I got it sometime from ebay tauted as being talonite. I find it is not talonite (magnetic) but returning was too impractical for the money I paid. It is very heavy and hard.I would be glad to send it to someone,maybe aknifemaker or metallurgist to see if it is something worth using for a knife. Anybody??
