Anyone have info on axes stamped STEEL KING. All I can find online are a few auction listings. I found that Collins used the name King or King’s but I din not see steel king.

It might not be related, but Vermont American had the registered trademark STEEL KING for "metal and woodcutting tools" (1965 registration), so maybe they once had a company like Mann or True Temper make axes for them.

I think it's more likely to be a private brand used by some distributor, but it's still only a guess.

They list them as having hardened polls. It would be worth file testing yours to see.

Start filing at the top or bottom of the eye and work your way to the poll. If it's hardened it will be obvious.

This doesn't add to answering the OP's question, but it piqued my curosity. The axe posted from Worthpoint looks to me to be marked "STEELKING". A search for "STEELKING" did not give me any results for an axe with that name. Searching for "STEEL KING" I found an axe image. Here is a comparison:

Steve, Is there some trick for viewing roseantiguetools pdfs? I am using firefox and when I click on their links it takes me back to default web page http://www.roseantiquetools.com/
Regarding the individual Belknap pages shown at the link I provided, I'm using Chrome and it does the same thing, but when I right-click on the image and choose "Open image in new tab" it gives me the full-size JPG image.

Regarding the PDF catalog downloads, the Rose Antique links have problems, so I suggest this site instead for those catalog downloads:
http://www.blackburntools.com/articles/rose-tools-catalog-archives/index.html

The site archive.org also has a bunch of these catalogs, where they can be viewed online.

Yep, same here; I can save the jpgs. Thanks for blackburntools and archive.org suggestion

Good eye for niggly details rjdankert Bob! Most of the double bowl stainless steel kitchen sinks I've used/owned/installed over the past 40 years in Ontario, Canada are marked 'STEEL * QUEEN' but were the prominent monarchy crown emblem (*!) to disappear between the words I'd be getting very suspicious about their origin too.
