Steel Question?

Hello again:

I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of steel would be in a Kubota tractor's p.t.o. shaft. Can it be used in knifemaking? If so, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks again for all your guys' wonderful help. Looking forward to hearing from you.

It is most likely 4130or something like it. It can be made into a knife but it is very hard to get hard enough to make a good blade. You'll have to use super quench or similar quenchent.
