Steel question

I am kind of new to the diferent steels used in knives. I am looking at the Ontario Rat series. I see that it comes in two materials 1095 and D2.

Would you please give me your opinion on the two diferent steels.

1095 is carbon and needs to be dried and oiled. D2 is not stainless but is damn close and holds a wicked edge. Both are nice steels.

Go to AG russels webpage and read the articles under knife dictionary. Good info in just a couple short articles.
