Gang--- As you know, Reese is making me a wider blade for my CQC-7B. What steel would you recommend?
Thanks for the input.

That's a tough one to answer. My own personal preference is for something stainless... I guess it depends on what's availible. Off the top of my head (and in no particular order): CPM 154CM, S30V, S90V, and CPM D2 (not stainless, but pretty close).

Or, perhaps something in stainless damascus? I think that would look really cool :D . Anyway, best of luck, and don't forget to post some pictures once it's done :).

CPM D2 would be interesting if you could find it. Another idea would be CPM M4.

What about A2? It's not stainless but hold a wicked edge for a long time.

Tool steel is on the top of the list. Nothing has out cut my tool steel knife except... INFI.

Horton told me that M4 is $$
I'll be curious to hear what stee Reese recommends.

Rolf, makers seem to like CPM154 a lot..... but that might be because it is reportedly easier to work with and finishes better than S30V.

I personally think 154CM is just dandy and if you can get an upgraded version I think you will be doing real good there...

I think you should go for a proper old school knaped flint blade..... steels way over rated :p.

Haze--- Knapp this!! >
:D
Update! I just got off the phone with Reese. CPM154 will be the steel. A Full Flat Chisel Grind will be the blade profile, Satin finish. Thumb stud. Hot Dang!!
:D

YESSS.... What do I win? Rolf, I'll take that PD. I know its just gathering dust on a shelf. :D
